The Poolham Estate 1871 - 1946
In 1871, the greater part of the parish was held by Magdalen College, Oxford (see map opposite). Other landowners included Christopher and Jabez TURNOR (Whispington).
By 1913, the principal landowners included Magdalen College, WIlliam LANE-CLAYPON (Aswardby Hall) and Mr. Elton SCOTT (Hale Farm Horsington).

1923-4
The College Archives has hand written annotations recording that some of its property was sold off in 1923 and 1924 (although the purchasers are unrecorded).
However, It can be reasonably deduced that James Buchanan was the purchaser of the Horsington lands.

FOOTNOTE: 1946
Magdalen College hold no land in Horsington.
In May 1946, Magdalen College conveyed to the Lincoln Diocesan Board of Patronage its ancient title to the advowson* of Horsington with Stixwold. Furthermore, a letter from the President of Magdalen to the Secretary of the Lincoln Diocesan Trust, dated 18 February 1946, shows that by that time “Magdalen College no longer had any land in Horsington.”
* Advowson is the right to appoint the Rector/Parson
